DESCRIPTION:Date: April 14–16\, 2025Location: Chikwawa\, Malawi\nAs part 
 of the GEF Groundwater for Advancing Resilience (G4DR) project\, a Technic
 al Planning Workshop will be held in Chikwawa\, Malawi from April 14 to 16
 \, 2025.\nUnder Component 3\, the workshop will bring together technical l
 eads\, gender focal points\, representatives from the Malawi Department of
  Water Resources\, Mozambique’s National Directorate of Water Resources 
 Management (DNGRH)\, and other key stakeholders to plan the upcoming Shire
  Basin Hydro Census and Gender Assessment.\n\nWorkshop Objectives\nThe wor
 kshop will convene technical experts and partners from Malawi and Mozambiq
 ue to:\n\n\n 	Analyze baseline data and identify data gaps.\n 	Agree on mo
 nitoring objectives\, network design approach\, and parameters.\n 	Develop
  a hydro-census plan.\n 	Explore and validate thematic areas and inputs on
  gender and social inclusion\n\nParticipants\nThe workshop aims to bring t
 ogether representatives from:\n\n\n 	International Water Management Instit
 ute (IWMI)\n 	Ministry of Water and Sanitation\, Malawi\n 	National Direct
 orate of Water Resources Management (DNGRH)\, Mozambique\n 	Central Region
 al Water Administration (ARA-Centro)\, Mozambique\n 	WaterAid Malawi \n\nE
 xpected Outcomes\nThe workshop is expected to deliver key outcomes that wi
 ll guide the next steps in the Shire Basin Hydro Census and Gender Assessm
 ent. These include:\n\n\n 	A collaborative team network established to ena
 ble effective co-design of the groundwater monitoring network.\n 	A shared
  understanding of existing hydrogeological data and knowledge gaps in the 
 Shire Basin.\n 	Clearly defined and prioritized objectives for the groundw
 ater monitoring network.\n 	Identified synergies between the GEF G4DR proj
 ect and other ongoing initiatives in the Shire Basin.\n 	Agreement on the 
 design approach and key parameters for the groundwater monitoring network.
 \n 	Completion of Hydro Census planning for the Shire Basin.\n 	Validated 
 thematic areas for the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Assessm
 ent\, ensuring relevance to the Shire Basin context.\n\nThis workshop mark
 s an important step in the implementation of the project under Component 3
 \, ensuring that groundwater management efforts in the Shire Basin are inc
 lusive and evidence-based.
